Notice of emails from the Electoral Commission
The Electoral Commission is sending reminder emails to voters of Māori descent about the deadline to change electoral rolls before this year’s general election.
Māori who are enrolled to vote have until 6 August to change rolls if they would like to from Māori roll to general roll, or general roll to Māori roll.
If you are Māori and you gave us your email address or mobile number when you enrolled or updated your details, we’ll send you a reminder by email or text about the 6 August deadline to change rolls.
We won’t send you a reminder if you’ve changed rolls in the last 60 days.
A small batch of emails will be sent on 29 June. The bulk of emails and texts will be sent from 6 to 19 July and 21 to 24 July.

Verifying it’s from the Electoral Commission
The emails sent on 29 June from no-reply@easy.vote.nz are personalised and will be addressed to the recipient.
An image at the top of the email shows a man and a boy fishing and the heading is Māori roll or general roll? The image includes the Electoral Commission logo. The email is in English and te reo Māori (Te Ātiawa dialect).
The email does not include links. It does not ask you for a password, PIN, login details, money or bank account details. You don’t need those things to enrol to vote.
