Broadcasting allocation starts
The first formal mechanisms in preparation for this year's general election are underway with political parties wanting to be considered for an allocation of broadcasting time or funds for radio or television election advertising having until Wednesday, 9 February, to let the Electoral Commission know.
New list MP for Act party
Kenneth Xiaoxuan WANG was declared by the Chief Electoral Officer, David Henry, to be elected a member of Parliament with effect from 22 November 2004 (the date of publication in the Gazette).
Māori Party logo registered
The Electoral Commission today (15 Oct 04) registered the logo of Māori Party, allowing the logo to be printed on election ballot papers.
Māori Party registered
The Electoral Commission meeting this morning (9 July 2004) resolved to register Māori Party as a political party, allowing the party to contest the party vote at a general election.
