Candidate returns for Tāmaki Makaurau by-election
Candidate returns for the 2025 Tāmaki Makaurau by-election have been published on the Electoral Commission’s elections.nz website.
Candidates are required to report their election advertising expenses, disclose any donations that meet the disclosure thresholds, and declare any loans received.

The deadline for candidate returns was Monday, 15 December 2025.
Limits for election expenses
The spending limit was $69,500 (including GST) for a candidate’s election advertising expenses published during the regulated period.
The regulated period for the Tāmaki Makaurau by-election started on 10 July and ended at midnight on Friday, 5 September 2025.
Donation thresholds
Candidates must declare donations of more than $1,500.
Candidates are not permitted to keep donations of more than $50 from an overseas person, or anonymous donations of more than $1,500.
