You could vote in the Tāmaki Makaurau by-election if you were enrolled in the Tāmaki Makaurau electorate, or if you were eligible to enrol in the Tāmaki Makaurau electorate on or before Saturday 6 September 2025.
Are you eligible to enrol and vote?
If you live in the Tāmaki Makaurau electorate area, but you were enrolled on the general electoral roll, you were not able to change to the Māori roll to vote in the by-election.

Voters who were enrolled in the Tāmaki Makaurau electorate by Wednesday 30 July were sent an EasyVote information pack in the mail. This pack included an EasyVote card and all the information you need to vote.
When could you vote?
Overseas voting started on Wednesday 20 August and voting in New Zealand started on Monday 25 August. Voting closed at 7pm on election day, Saturday 6 September.

About the electorate
The Tāmaki Makaurau Māori electorate includes central Auckland south of the Harbour Bridge. It extends from Piha in the west to Waiheke Island in the east, and includes many of the suburbs around Manukau City. It overlaps or intersects with 15 general electorates.
