Election broadcasting allocations announced
The Electoral Commission has released its unanimous decision for the allocation of broadcasting time and advertising funds to eligible registered political parties contesting the general election.
Party and logo registration decisions announced
The Electoral Commission resolved on 14 April 2005 to register: 99 MP Party, allowing it to contest the party vote at a general election a party logo for the New Zealand Family Rights Protection Party a substitute logo for UNITED FUTURE New Zealand (that reflects the party's association with OUTDOOR RECREATION NZ).

23 parties claim election broadcasting share
Twenty-three political parties planning to contest the general election are claiming eligibility to be considered for a share of $3.212 million in broadcast election advertising funds, as well as 102 free minutes available for opening and closing addresses on each of Television New Zealand and National Radio.

The Electoral Commission resolved on 7 March 2005 to register the New Zealand Family Rights Protection Party, allowing the party to contest the party vote at a general election.
Broadcasting allocation starts
The first formal mechanisms in preparation for this year's general election are underway with political parties wanting to be considered for an allocation of broadcasting time or funds for radio or television election advertising having until Wednesday, 9 February, to let the Electoral Commission know.

Kenneth Xiaoxuan WANG was declared by the Chief Electoral Officer, David Henry, to be elected a member of Parliament with effect from 22 November 2004 (the date of publication in the Gazette).

The Electoral Commission today (15 Oct 04) registered the logo of Māori Party, allowing the logo to be printed on election ballot papers.
