Election reminders and enrolment hubs
Efforts to get people enrolled step up again this week, with enrolment reminders to be emailed to 2 million New Zealanders and enrolment hubs set to open next week.
With the election approaching, people are encouraged to take a few minutes now to make sure their enrolment details are correct and that they are ready to vote.
“We posted enrolment packs to 3.6 million enrolled voters last month so people could check their details. We’re getting a lot of packs returned to us because people have moved. If you didn’t receive a pack, it means you are not enrolled or need to update your address,” says Shane Whitfield, Director of Strategic Engagement and Partnerships.
“We’re following up the packs with more than 2 million reminder emails that will be sent between 31 August and 20 September to voters who have previously given us their email address.
“Then from next week, teams will be out in communities at enrolment hubs providing another opportunity to enrol or update your details in person,” says Shane Whitfield.
The eight hubs are mainly in shopping malls in Whangārei, Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch, with two further locations to be confirmed in Lower Hutt and Dunedin. Each hub will have New Zealand Sign Language interpreters present at set times.
"This is a great way for us to answer any questions and make sure you’re ready to vote,” says Shane Whitfield.
People can find out where enrolment teams will be in their communities by visiting vote.nz.
Enrol by 4 October to receive an EasyVote card. The last day to enrol or update your details for the 2026 General Election is midnight 25 October. Voting starts on 26 October, and election day is 7 November.
