Candidate returns - referral to Police
The Electoral Commission has referred David MacLeod MP to Police over a failure to report $178,394 of candidate donations.
David McLeod’s original candidate return for the 2023 General Election was filed on 13 February 2024. The total donations disclosed were $29,268 from seven separate donors.
On 20 May 2024, the Commission received an amended return. The total donations disclosed in the amended return are $207,662 from 24 separate donors.
As this matter is now with the Police, the Electoral Commission will not be commenting further.
(Note, while the Electoral Commission does not normally name individuals referred to Police, we have done so in this case because Mr MacLeod has already spoken publicly about the matter.)
