Decision on TOP logo and abbreviated name
The Board of the Electoral Commission has declined an application by The Opportunities Party (TOP) to register a new party logo.
The decision was made on the grounds that the inclusion of the words ‘Vote Different’ meant that the logo was likely to cause confusion or mislead electors as set out in section 71D(1)(d) of the Electoral Act 1993.
While the logo was declined, the Board has approved the party’s application to register the abbreviated party name ‘TOP’.
The register of political parties will be updated accordingly.
