Referral to the Police - 7 October 2014
On 2 October 2014, the Electoral Commission referred Avonhead Community Group to Police for distributing a leaflet prior to the election promoting a candidate.
It is the Electoral Commission’s view that the distribution of the leaflet breached sections 204F and 204G of the Electoral Act as it did not include a promoter statement and was not authorised in writing by the candidate.
As this matter is now with the Police, the Electoral Commission will not be commenting further.
