Referral to the Police - 11 December 2014

Dec 11, 2014 | News

Dual vote referrals to the Police for 2014 General Election.

On 11 December 2014, the Electoral Commission referred to Police 126 individuals who appear to have voted more than once at the 2014 General Election. Dual voting is an offence under section 215 of the Electoral Act 1993.

63 referrals were made following the 2011 General Election. As in 2011, the majority of dual vote referrals in 2014 related to individuals who voted in advance, then voted again on election day.

As these matters are now with the Police, the Electoral Commission will not be commenting further.
