Vote The Easy Way in Christchurch East
The Electoral Commission advises voters in the Christchurch East electorate to look out for their EasyVote pack in the mail this week.
“From Monday 18 November, we’re sending out over 33,000 EasyVote packs to everyone who is enrolled to vote in the by-election,” says Mr Peden.
Each EasyVote pack contains the voter’s personalised EasyVote card, the list of candidates, the location and opening hours of voting places, and advance voting details.
“Voters in Christchurch East should look out for their EasyVote packs in the mail this week. Take your EasyVote card with you when you vote. It makes voting faster and easier,”” says Robert Peden, Chief Electoral Officer.
People can still vote without their EasyVote card, but it may take longer.
“Everyone who was correctly enrolled before Thursday 31 October should receive their EasyVote packs this week,” says Mr Peden.
Anyone who enrols or updates their details after that date can cast a special vote, so long as they enrol before election day Saturday 30 November.
“If you don’t receive an EasyVote pack, you may not be enrolled. You can find out if you are on the roll at www.elections.org.nz, by phoning 0800 36 76 56 or by checking the printed roll at a PostShop. The last day for enrolments is Friday 29 November. You cannot enrol on election day,” says Mr Peden.
Enrolling or updating your details is easy. Visit www.elections.org.nz, freetext your name and address to 3676, call 0800 36 76 56, or visit any PostShop. More information about enrolling to vote is available at the website.
