Vote in advance if you’ll be away on election day
What do the Elton John concert in Dunedin, the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge, and the New Zealand Ukulele Festival have in common? They’re all happening around Saturday 26 November, election day.
They are just three of the hundreds of events that will be taking place around New Zealand on election weekend.
“If you are going to be away from home on election day, the best way to have your say is to vote in advance before you leave,” says Robert Peden, Chief Electoral Officer.
“You can vote at any polling place in the country on election day, but it will be quicker and easier to vote at an advance voting place in your electorate before you go,” Mr Peden says.
Advance voting is open now. Information about where, when and how to vote in advance is available at www.elections.org.nz and by freephone 0800 36 76 56.
Contact the Returning Officer for your electorate if you will be unable to get to a polling place and would like ballot papers to be sent to you in the mail or collected for you by someone else. Returning Officer contact details are available at www.elections.org.nz or by phoning 0800 36 76 56.
Advance voting closes on Friday 25 November.
