Referral of alleged breach of the Electoral Act 1993
The Electoral Commission has referred the following matter to the Police:
Hon Jim Anderton, letter to constituents
It is the Electoral Commission’s view that the publication of the letter constitutes a breach of section 204B of the Electoral Act 1993 because Mr Anderton was not entitled to promote an election advertisement.
As this matter is now with the Police, the Electoral Commission will not be commenting further.
