Governor-General issues the writ for the Te Tai Tokerau by-election
The Electoral Commission advises that the Governor-General, Rt Hon Sir Anand Satyanand, has issued the writ giving the Electoral Commission the formal direction and authority to conduct a by-election in the Te Tai Tokerau electorate on Saturday 25 June, 2011.
The writ sets out the dates for nominations, election day and the return of the writ.
Nominations for candidates to contest the by-election will be called for by public notice tomorrow, Thursday 26 May 2011.
Nominations must be received no later than midday Tuesday 31 May 2011.
A full list of candidates for the Te Tai Tokerau by-election is expected to be available by 4.00pm on Tuesday 31 May 2011.
