The Kiwi Party registered
The Kiwi Party was added to the register of political parties today by the Electoral Commission. Two objections to registration, alleging that the name appropriated a term with wider ownership, were rejected.
Registration of a party is needed to contest the party vote. Registration may be refused if: a name is indecent, offensive, misleading, confusing, refers to a title or an honour; a party seeking registration does not have 500 members; or an application is made incorrectly.
