94 percent of voters enrolled to vote in 2005 election
New figures out today show 94 percent of eligible voters have enrolled to vote for the 2005 general election.
This compares with 92 percent enrolled at the same time in 2002, and 89 percent in 1999.
"2.812 million people enrolled by writ day, 17 August, and have made it onto the printed electoral rolls to be used on election day," says Murray Wicks, National Manager of the Electoral Enrolment Centre. "We are pleased that so many New Zealanders have taken action already to enrol."
