Ms Jennifer GeorgettiObjection
Helensville
This objection relates to a boundary change
This objection relates to a name change
Ms Jennifer GeorgettiMy objection to the proposed boundary is that the east coast in the present Rodney has no community interaction with the western Helensville area. People living around SH1 socially and community wise go up and down the highway. From the proposed northern area of Helensville commuting from the Warkworth area is difficult. The name Helensville is inappropriate. Helensville is a small area totally disconnected from Warkworth or Wellsford. Suggested solutionThe population at the southern end of the current Rodney is much closer to Helensville. Could they not be included and leave the northern end in Rodney.Name- The name needs to cover the proposed area, Rodney (which Helensville used to be in) would be a lot more appropriate otherwise Rodney/Kaipara. |

Mr Bruce Snowsill1. People of Warkworth and surrounds identify with Orewa. And Magawhai. Helensville is considered to be West Auckland.2. I strongly object to the proposed name. Suggested solution1. Replace Helensville with Orewa and or Managwhai in our new electorate.2. Suggested name for the new electorate is Kowhai Coast a name already in common use. |

Helensville
This objection relates to a boundary change
This objection relates to a name change
Andrew RumblesThe electorate connects two disjointed areas. Massey should stay with the rest of Massey. Kumeu is a long way and has little connection with Warkworth and Wellsford. Warkworth is growing very fast. Mangawhai is a community that connects with Warkworth for many services.Name is too specific Suggested solutionExclude Massey and include Mangawhai.Suggest Atuanui the reo name for mt AUCKLAND. This landmark is central and has a view over the proposed electorate area. |

This objection relates to a boundary change
This objection does not relate to a name change
Tony EnderbyThe proposed change from Rodney, which reflects the area it covered, to Helensville, which is far from my local area and has different priorities. I object strongly to a poorly thought out change to the existing Rodney electorate to Helensville that does not reflect the north Rodney area.Suggested solutionThe north Rodney area is closely allied to Orewa, Warkworth, Wellsford and should be represented as such with a name that reflects the area. |

Mr Brent BurridgeObjection
Helensville
This objection relates to a boundary change
This objection does not relate to a name change
Mr Brent BurridgeWarkworth, Wellsford, Te Hana, Pakiri becoming the Helensville electorate, not Rodney anymore. It will change the focus for the region. The local MP's for the areas have both been working on projects for their specific electorate. My biggest fear is that huge infrastructure changes that are needed in both areas may get lost in the handover. These two candidates know their areas best, and we need massive change to keep in step for growth in these areas, and we could get lost in central government priorities, which would have a devastating effect. Suggested solutionLeave it as it is, apply some logic to the situation, we are already getting left behind in Super City growth. |

Mr Graham CuttsSe are happy in Rodney District of Northland, Changing to Helensville brings a different cultural and residential unit which does not fit with our region. You are wasting time and public money changing something that has been working for years. Helensville and Kumeu are supposed growth areas, we like being a quiet rural area Suggested solutionMove other regions around if you must change the boundaries |

Anne YoungI object to Warkworth being moved from its’ existing boundary into the Helensville Electorate, we will be losing our identity.Suggested solutionA solution would be Helensville & Rodney, we are a unique part of the country and you are just wiping us off the map. |

Helensville
This objection relates to a boundary change
This objection does not relate to a name change
Frances DickinsonI do NOT want our electorate boundaries to change. I live in Leigh and would like to remain as part of Rodney, where we have a strong local board who represent our needs accurately and fairly. Changing our electoral boundaries will mean increased confusion on how to get practical solutions delivered to our already lacking services (we are part of Auckland and still struggle to get basic needs met such as road repairs) and we are not even close to Hellensville - our new proposed area.Suggested solutionKeep the electoral boundary the same. |

Barbara LarsenObjection
Helensville
This objection does not relate to a boundary change
This objection relates to a name change
Barbara LarsenA large, northern, part of the present Rodney electorate is to be incorporated into part of the present Helensville electorate. The name Helensville for this new electorate is inappropriate and gives an inaccurate picture. Helensville is one town on the extreme west of the new electorate and bears no relationship to the towns and districts to the east. These towns and districts will be disadvantaged by the name HelensvilleSuggested solutionUse the name Rodney. Most of the area within the new boundary has been part of Rodney electorate in the past and the name is synonymous with this location. Rodney is clear, non specific and in line with the local government board name. |

David InglisIt appears short sighted to name the proposed new electorate after a small declining town on the edge of the area. Warkworth is due to grow by up to 20000 in the next two decades, and will be the central focus of the electorate.Suggested solutionName the electorate Warkworth. |

This objection relates to a name change
Ruth MintonThe area of the new proposed electorate including Wellsford, TeHana etc does NOT suit at all. The residents do not consider themselves Helensville at all.In fact, it takes approx. an hour to drive from Wellsford to the township of Helensville. Helensville is a township name, not an electorate area name. Why not keep the name of Rodney. This name covers the current local body election area in question too. People relate to this region name already. Suggested solutionRodney. |

Mrs Susan CrockettObjection
Helensville
This objection does not relate to a boundary change
This objection relates to a name change
Mrs Susan CrockettChange the name of the proposed Helensville electorate.I live in rural Wellsford, currently Northland Electorate. There are logical reasons for Wellsford to be part of Northland ie "Wellsford is the gateway to Northland" Although I was expecting a change of electorate and aligning the boundary with the Auckland City boundary makes sense, the name Helensville makes no sense to me and even less to friends living in Matakana, Warkworth and further east. Helensville is a town and does not reflect the district within the proposed electorate boundary. Suggested solutionKeep the name Rodney as the area covered by the proposed Helensville electorate is pretty close to the area covered by the Rodney Ward of Auckland City. |

Christian PolandObjection
Helensville
This objection does not relate to a boundary change
This objection relates to a name change
Christian PolandI object to the name "Helensville" given Helensville objectively has a smaller population than Warkworth, which is also in the proposed electorate. The name Helensville seems like an arbitrary continuation. It does not unite the electorate, most of which was previously in the Rodney electorate which Warkworth as a community better aligned with.Suggested solutionI support Beth Houlbrooke's idea to call the electorate 'Atanui' (Mount Auckland). It overlooks the Kaipara Harbour, which is probably the only aspect that the different communities in this proposed electorate share. The option of 'Kaipara' is also appealing. |

N04-026 | Beth Houlbrooke | Objection | Name
Beth HoulbrookeObjection
Helensville
This objection does not relate to a boundary change
This objection relates to a name change
Beth HoulbrookeThe proposed Helensville electorate extends north and east to Warkworth, Wellsford, and the Kowhai Coast. The name 'Helensville' does not relate to these communities at all and will cause confusion with the removal of the name 'Rodney' altogether. North Rodney residents in particular already feel disenfranchised by being part of 'Auckland', so will feel a loss of identity.Suggested solutionThe Helensville electorate needs to be renamed to more accurately and inclusively represent the residents over what is now a very large geographical area touching both coasts, and rural farmland in between. My suggested name changes: 1) Atuanui Atuanui, or Mt Auckland, is the highest point in the electorate and from which there would be views of the entire electorate, coast to coast, north and south. 2) Rodney The new boundaries of the Helensville electorate appear to follow those of the Rodney Ward and Rodney Local Board of Auckland Council, with the small exception of the Coatesville/Dairy Flat area. Most people who live in the Helensville electorate would consider that they are part of Rodney. |

This objection relates to a name change
Mr Matt RaileyI object to removing Rodney as the name.Rodney district is an area I am proud to call home. I have no affiliation with Helensville. Renaming an electorate a something people have little or no connection with further disenfranchises them and will negatively affect voter turnout. Suggested solutionKeep the Rodney area named as Rodney.Stop paying money to people to create unnecessary changes just to justify their jobs. |

John BlakeyThe name Helensville is in appropriate. it’s a name of a town not a region. Rodney is the region and most of the electorate falls within the area covered by the Rodney Community Board. Most of us won’t relate to the name Helensville at all. |

N04-029 | Peter Jenkins | Objection | Name
Peter JenkinsObjection
Helensville
This objection does not relate to a boundary change
This objection relates to a name change
Peter JenkinsThis seat now includes large parts of the former Rodney seat which have no connection with and are quite distant from the town of Helensville. Mahurangi, Warkworth, the Matakana Coast and surrounding areas might look near Helensville on the map but are far apart and - more importantly - have no natural connection. It is not even a place that people drive to or through (given people drive straight down SH1 into the city). To be part of an electorate called Helensville is to be part of an electorate named after a distant town, we might as well be part of an electorate named Hamilton. This is particularly ridiculous when another, better suited name, exists.Having an electorate name so detached from your area just seems to affirm the idea that politics and parliament have nothing to do with the local people. The MP for Helensville does not and will never feel like a local MP with that title. Suggested solutionThere used to be an electorate called Kaipara. This would be the best name for the new electorate. This would immediately include the town of Helensville and surrounding areas (which are on the shores of the Kaipara Harbour). But would also make sense to those districts that have been removed from the old Rodney electorate - both because of the previous historic connection with the town but also because Kaipara (Kaipara Harbour, Kaipara Flats, Kaipara hills) is a known local geography and connection, so it is easy to understand and to see that it is connected. In short, naming the electorate Kaipara would be a better fit for the actual geographic area it now covers and be most effective at making citizens feel like it was their local electorate. |

This objection does not relate to a boundary change
This objection relates to a name change
Cheryl BlakeyI object to this name change when boundaries change. The area encompassed by the current Rodney Electorate is much greater than the current Helensville electorate. Boundary changes will incorporate much more of the old Rodney area than the old Helensville area.Call the new revised boundary area by the name of the largest area - Rodney. Leave Helensville as a settlement just as many other parts of Rodney - Wellsford, Matakana, etc are settlements. I live in the settlement of Ti Point, a very long way away from the settlement of Helensville. Imagine Helensville voters’ objections if Ti Point or Leigh were choices for the new electorate name! |

This objection relates to a name change
Terry CorneliusHelensville is a small town at the western extremity of this electorate, away from the population concentrations on the East Coast. Warkworth for example has approximately twice the population of Helensville.I would suggest a Māori name for the electorate that more residents would relate to, and would feel was representative of the area where they live. Mahurangi would for example would be more representative for most people. Suggested solutionRename the electorate Mahurangi |
