Voters of Māori descent choose to be on the general roll or the Māori roll. The roll you choose decides which electorate and local council voting area you will vote in.
Quarterly figures on changes between the Māori roll and the general roll and new enrolments are available in the table below. New enrolments include 17-year-olds enrolling on the provisional roll.

The tables below show the number of people of Māori descent on the Māori roll and the general roll, broken down by electorate and by age. The estimated eligible population is calculated for general electorates and includes those on the general and Māori rolls, because of the geographic overlap of general and Māori electorates.
Māori enrolment figures are updated monthly. Prior to 1 June 2025, they were updated quarterly.
