Application to register an amended party logo

Apr 29, 2026 | News

The Electoral Commission is considering the New Zealand National Party’s application made under Part 4 of the Electoral Act 1993 to register the following amended political party logo:

A large white letter N on a blue background with 3 white stars around it and one blue star on it. The word National appears to the left, rotated 90 degrees so the letter N is at the bottom.

Registration of a logo is needed for it to appear on a voting paper.

Registration of a party logo may be refused if the logo is indecent, offensive, likely to cause confusion or mislead electors, or contains any reference to a title or honour or similar form of identification, infringes an intellectual property right or breaches any enactment.

Anyone who wishes to comment on the amended party logo may do so in writing to the Electoral Commission at:

The deadline for comments is 5pm, Wednesday 13 May 2026.

For more information on the logo variation process see Part 4 of the Party Registration Handbook (PDF, 35MB), email enquiries@elections.govt.nz or phone 04 495 0030 9am–5pm Monday to Friday.
