6 July notice of emails and texts

Jul 6, 2026 | News

Emails and text messages are being sent to voters of Māori descent between 6 and 19 July about the deadline to change electoral rolls before the 2026 General Election.

Māori who are enrolled to vote have until 6 August to change rolls if they would like to from the Māori roll to the general roll, or the general roll to the Māori roll.

You’ll receive a reminder if you gave us your email address or mobile number when you enrolled or updated your details.

We won’t send you a reminder if you’ve changed rolls in the last 60 days.

For more information on the roll choice for Māori and communications from the Electoral Commission go to vote.nz

Verifying it’s from the Electoral Commission

The emails will be sent from no-reply@easy.vote.nz and will be addressed to the recipient. Text messages will be sent from 5101.

An image at the top of the email shows a man and a boy fishing and the heading is Māori roll or general roll? The image includes the Electoral Commission logo. The email is in English and te reo Māori (Te Ātiawa dialect).

The email does not include links. It does not ask you for a password, PIN, login details, money or bank account details. You don’t need those things to enrol to vote.

If you have any questions, please phone 0800 36 76 56.
