21 July notice of text messages

Jul 20, 2026 | News

If you’re Māori, you may receive a text message from the Electoral Commission between Tuesday 21 and Friday 24 July about the deadline to change electoral rolls before the election.

A letter about the choice between the Māori roll and the general roll was sent to all enrolled voters of Māori descent in April, and a follow up email reminder was sent earlier this month.

If we don’t have your email address but do have your mobile number, you’ll receive a reminder by text this week.

We won’t send you a reminder if you’ve changed rolls in the last 60 days.

For more information on the roll choice for Māori and communications from the Electoral Commission go to vote.nz.
