New CEO joins the Electoral Commission
Karl Le Quesne has joined the Electoral Commission as its new Chief Electoral Officer, Chief Executive and Board member.
Karl Le Quesne has a background in the public service. He comes to the Commission from the Department of Internal Affairs where he was Deputy Chief Executive Organisational Strategy and Performance. Previously, he held the role of Acting Deputy Secretary, Early Learning and Student Achievement at the Ministry of Education.
‘I’m looking forward to working at the Electoral Commission which has such an important role to play in ensuring New Zealanders trust, value and participate in parliamentary elections,’ says Mr Le Quesne.
‘We have a very busy time ahead with the Tauranga by-election and the enrolment update campaign for the local elections this year, and a general election in 2023.’
Karl Le Quesne replaces Alicia Wright as the Chief Electoral Officer after she successfully completed a 5-year term in the position.
