Enrol by Wednesday 2 November to make voting easy in the Mt Roskill by-election

Oct 19, 2016 | Media release

Make voting in the Mt Roskill by-election on 3 December as easy as possible by enrolling or updating your details now.

“Enrol by Wednesday 2 November and you’ll get your EasyVote pack in the mail,” says Justine Welsh, Registrar of Electors for the Mt Roskill Electorate. “It will give you all the information you need to vote in the by-election – candidates, voting places and the times they’re open. It also includes your EasyVote card, which makes voting even easier on the day.”

Enrolling is quick and easy.  Enrolment forms are available from www.elections.org.nz, by Freetexting your name and address to 3676, from any PostShop or by calling Freephone 0800 36 76 56.  People can update their details by filling in a new enrolment form or going online to www.elections.org.nz.

“If you’ve got friends or family who aren’t enrolled - now’s a great chance to remind them,” says Justine Welsh.

Only those who are enrolled in the general electorate of Mt Roskill are entitled to vote in the by-election.

To be eligible to enrol in the Mt Roskill electorate you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or over; and
  • Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident who has lived in New Zealand continuously for 12 months at some time; and
  • Have been living in the Mt Roskill electorate for one month or more.

People can enrol right up until Friday 2 December, but those who enrol after Wednesday 2 November will need to complete a special vote, which takes a little longer.
