Referral to the police - 18 December 2015
Dual vote referrals to the Police for the First Referendum on the New Zealand Flag 2015.
On 18 December 2015, the Electoral Commission referred to Police seven instances of apparent dual voting in the first flag referendum. Dual voting is an offence under section 33 and section 59(1) of the New Zealand Flag Referendums Act 2015.
As these matters are now with the Police, the Electoral Commission will not be commenting further.
