In the 2013 Christchurch East by-election there were:
- 33,569 people enrolled.
- A total of 13,937 votes cast.
- 3,269 advance votes.
- 616 special votes, including 17 overseas votes.
The winning candidate majority was 4,837 votes.
Voter turnout for the 2013 Christchurch East by-election was 41.5% of the 33,569 people enrolled.
The Electoral Commission expects to return the writ showing the successful candidate on Tuesday 17 December 2013 (assuming no recounts).

Background
The official results for the 2013 Christchurch East by-election held on Saturday 30 November 2013 have been determined in accordance with the electoral legislation. The results are subject to any applications for judicial recounts.
The scrutiny of the rolls has been completed and the master roll for the Christchurch East electorate has been prepared. All votes cast on election night have been recounted and balanced and special votes have been checked for eligibility before being counted. This has been done in the presence of a Justice of the Peace.
