Waitakere Judicial Recount Official Results

Following the public release of District Court Judge JG Adams’ decision on Friday 16 December, the Electoral Commission has today declared an amended electoral result for the Waitakere electorate.

The judicial recount of the electorate votes for the Waitakere electorate has been completed and National Party candidate Paula Bennett has won the seat with a majority of 9 votes.

The recount was brought as a result of an application filed by National Party candidate Paula Bennett on 14 December.  The recount was conducted under the direction of Judge Adams on 14-16 December at the headquarters of the Returning Officer for the Waitakere electorate in the presence of candidate scrutineers.
