Electoral Commission reminds New Zealand to vote tomorrow
Tomorrow New Zealanders will go to the polls in the General Election and Referendum on New Zealand’s Voting System.
“This year it’s more important than ever to have your say. Not only will we be voting for the politicians who will represent us in parliament, we’ll also be voting for the system we use to elect them in the future,” says Robert Peden, Chief Electoral Officer.
Polling places are open from 9.00am until 7.00pm. The busiest time at polling places is usually 9.00am - 11.00am.
To make voting easier, vote at a polling place close to home. Details of the closest polling place to you can be found in your EasyVote pack, by calling 0800 36 56 76 or at www.elections.org.nz.
“Take your EasyVote card with you when you go to vote, as it will make voting faster and easier. But don’t worry if you forget your card, or didn’t receive one, as long as you are enrolled to vote, you can still have your say tomorrow,” says Mr Peden.
“If you are not yet enrolled, do it now. Today is your last chance, as you cannot enrol on the day. Call 0800 36 76 56 to find out how,” says Mr Peden.
