Vote this week if you're not in your electorate on election day 17 September
The Chief Electoral Office has released figures showing 46,500 people have voted during the first seven days of advance voting for the 2005 General Election.
"The number of people voting in advance is now more than an average of 7,500 a day," says David Henry, Chief Electoral Officer.
The figures cover the period from the start of advance voting on Wednesday 31 August to Thursday 8 September.
"We are urging people who are going away or who won't be in the electorate on election day to vote in advance this week," says Mr Henry.
Advancing voting closes at 4pm on Friday 16 September.
Mr Henry says information about where to vote in advance is contained in the EasyVote packs sent to voters over the past few days.
Opening hours of advance voting facilities may vary depending on their location. Details are available in the EasyVote pack, from 0800 36 76 56 or here.
"Voters who enrolled in time should now have their EasyVote card. They should take this with them if they need to vote in advance."
In 2002, over 130,000 people voted in advance. Advance votes accounted for six percent of votes cast in the 2002 General Election.
