The Electoral Commission is considering an application made under Part 4 of the Electoral Act 1993 to register the following political party:

Party name: Freedoms New Zealand
Abbreviation: Freedoms NZ
Applicant: Jennifer Marshall, Party Secretary

Registration of a party may be refused if the name is indecent, offensive, excessively long, likely to cause confusion or mislead electors, contains any reference to a title or honour or similar form of identification.

Anyone who wishes to comment on the party name may do so in writing to the Electoral Commission at:

  • PO Box 3220, Wellington 6140
  • email enquiries@elections.govt.nz

The deadline for comments is 5pm, Friday 9 December 2022.

More information on the party registration process is available at elections.nz. You can also email enquiries@elections.govt.nz or phone 04 495 0030 9am–5pm Monday to Friday.

Freedoms NZ also intends to register a logo. Please note that logo applications cannot be processed until after the return of the writ for the Hamilton West by-election (17 January 2023).
