Over 14 million hits from users in 100 countries were recorded on the Chief Electoral Office's www.electionresults.govt.nz website on election night.

"Our website www.electionresults.govt.nz provided the election results progressively in real time on election night," says David Henry, Chief Electoral Officer.

"As soon as the votes were counted and available they were entered into our computer system and were available for the world to see within seconds," he says.

The 14.25 million hits were generated by over 56,000 unique internet provider addresses.
