Principal Advisor, Capability & Organisational Development
An exciting opportunity for a Principal Advisor Capability and Organisational Development to join the People and Culture team at the Electoral Commission. Reporting to the Manager People and Culture, the main objective of the Principal Advisor – Capability and Organisational Development is to implement and maintain people management programmes which support the Commission's strategic aims and objectives. In addition, contribute to the Commission's people, culture priorities, and provide sound advice and support to managers and their teams. Lead the Organisational Health and Capability Development of the Commission and be the primary liaison with senior managers.
- Capability Strategy - Develop and implement initiatives and improvements to current practices
- Talent Management - Implement performance management and talent management initiatives and succession planning
- People Strategy - Develop, analyse, monitor, promote and enable employee learning and development programmes
- Initiate implement and administer employee surveys
- Review and maintain applicable Human Resources policies
- Design, develop and lead the implementation of a Leadership Framework
- Engagement and Pay gap activities
- Manage Organisational Culture & Program – Assist Managers with building the culture in line with the Electoral Commission's values
- Provide senior managers and the Board with high quality information and expert advice
- Provide advice on compliance of the Commission's health and safety policies, procedures, and plans
To be successful in this role you must have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification and experience in a Senior Organisational Development and/or Learning and Development Advisory capacity
- Well developed analytical skills
- Ability to analyse complex issues and deliver new fresh insights
- Experience in leading strategy formulation and outcome development, planning and reporting
- Experience translating policy
- Ability to write complex papers
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Mentoring and developing junior employees
- Experience working on projects with multiple components

In association with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade under the New Zealand Aid Programme, the International Team provides technical assistance to electoral agencies in the Pacific and beyond to support those agencies to enhance their electoral administration capability.
